Alfred State Associate Professor and Department Chair of the Business Department Mark Bloxsom and Lecturer in the Physical and Life Sciences Department Jennifer Ross were honored with the Student Advocate Award during the 40th annual Honors Convocation.
"Today, we celebrate not just the culmination of our academic achievements, but also the beginning of a journey into the unknown. As we step out into the world, we are armed with knowledge, skills, and a passion to make a difference."
Kaytlin Cottrell - Student Senate President
"Students had to work together to research and analyze the issue from multiple angles to determine exactly what the problem was and then propose possible solutions to administrators to improve it. For many students this was their first time working on a real problem and project of this magnitude. They were especially excited that the project was something tangible that could improve life here at Alfred State.”

“Alfred State has put forth a mission of enhancing learning through hands-on experiences while engaging students to be involved in a caring community. As a Nutrition course, I feel it’s our responsibility to bring awareness to food insecurity and support efforts to combat it. My students had the opportunity to participate in organizing, designing, selling, and preparing meals.”
Jennifer Ross
“I have seen countless of my peer’s struggle, and it has inspired me to do my best. To see my hard work paying off is truly a blessing. I am nowhere near where I want to be in the future yet, receiving this award tells me that I am getting closer to my goal.”
Al-Aquib Coulibaly
“We are excited to show off the work of our seniors. It is great for our students to gather in one spot and watch the work that their classmates have put together throughout the semester. It is a celebration of not only the semester but of the seniors careers here at Alfred State.”
