Community Services
For over 100 years, Alfred State has woven civic engagement into the fabric of campus life. Service and learning go hand in hand, with students, faculty, and staff sharing their knowledge, skills, and energy to improve lives across Western New York and beyond. Each year, Pioneers contribute more than 70,000 hours of community service, including responses to natural disasters, local initiatives, and international relief projects.
Signature efforts such as the Alfred Community Garden embody this spirit, combining sustainability education with food security. Founded in 2010 by the Green Team, the garden offers service-learning opportunities while producing healthy, affordable food for the community. It is a living classroom that connects students to both their studies and the needs of their neighbors.
Alfred State also extends its services through award-winning Print and Mail Services, which supports both campus and regional clients, and through ACES Catering, which delivers unforgettable events at campus venues and the scenic Lake Lodge. Whether providing essential skills, producing sustainable solutions, or bringing people together, Alfred State remains deeply committed to serving and strengthening its community.
