From face masks that can monitor the wearer’s temperature, to light-up vests that make it safe to run at night, Alfred State College (ASC) engineering students have been working on some incredible energy harvesting devices that have real-world applications. 

UB, Alfred State strike electrical engineering program agreement

Alfred State College (ASC) graduates may seamlessly continue their education at the University at Buffalo and pursue a master’s degree in electrical engineering, courtesy of a new agreement signed by the two State University of New York (SUNY) entities.

ASC grad to virtually present engineering project at national conference

Recent Alfred State graduate Alex Bailey, engineering science, Bath, will present the results of an applied learning project that he and two others worked on at the upcoming American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE) Virtual Conference in June.

ABET reaccredits 10 Alfred State programs

Alfred State introduces new mechatronics technology programs

The college has recently expanded its academic offerings to now include associate and bachelor’s degree programs in mechatronics technology. Classes for these programs will begin in the fall 2019 semester.

Alfred State College competes in Baja SAE in Kansas

The object of the competition is to provide SAE student members with a challenging project that involves the design, planning, and manufacturing tasks found when introducing a new product to the consumer industrial market.

BUV team earns third straight top finish in annual competition

The victory marks the fifth time an Alfred State team has finished first in the competition. The college has also come in second four times since first entering the event in 2006.

Manufacturing fuel cells and more jobs

Alfred State has earned a $75,000 manufacturing innovation grant for the further development of fuel cells, and to assist a western New York company add a projected 15 jobs in the next four years.

BUV team secures back-to-back top finishes in annual competition

For the second consecutive year, the Alfred State Basic Utility Vehicle (BUV) Team earned a first-place finish in the annual intercollegiate BUV Design Competition in Batavia, OH. 

New nanotechnology lab a state-of-the-art facility

Alfred State’s new Micro-Nano Fabrication Laboratory is one very big addition to the college’s Mechanical and Electrical Engineering Technology Department.
