“As part of our Professional Development Week we try to avail our faculty opportunities to learn more about our students and where they are coming from. The simulation allowed our faculty to participate and understand better what some of our students’ lives may be like outside of college and it gives us opportunity to have conversations in the classroom.”

Alfred State College (ASC) is excited to announce the addition of 22 new faculty and staff members. The new members of the ASC community were announced during Dr. Steve Mauro’s semester opening address.
Dr. Carrie Cokely has attended a wide variety of classes ranging from automotive, botany, estimating, HVAC, and nutrition during her first semester on campus.
“Our place is what I call a third space. It is not a classroom space nor a residential space, but it is a gathering space. A student can just come in and sit and talk with other students. Our cultural life ambassadors do programming for the whole campus and lots of their work centers around awareness of different identities and different cultural moments.”

The Educational Foundation of Alfred, Inc., a private foundation representing faculty, staff, and friends of Alfred State College (ASC), recently added Justin Cornelius to their board. Kishan Zuber, the college’s new Vice President for Enrollment Management, has also joined as an ex-officio member.
“This is so impressive in so many ways. “It is a special combination of efforts between our community, Alfred State, and Alfred University. We are all Alfred at the end of the day. What better way to come together as a team than to make our downtown area more beautiful.”

Members of the Alfred State University Police have teamed up with Ardent Solutions for a car seat safety check at Armstrong (6661 NY-305, Belfast, NY) on Sept. 23.
“With CM-Lean as my compass, I aim to bridge the gap between theory and practice, injecting real-world relevance into the classroom. I plan to equip our students with practical tools that will foster a profound understanding of site production, waste concepts, and their effects on project planning.”
