Sitting on more than five acres of land at 3829 Foundation Drive, the 2,199-square-foot, French country-style three-bedroom house includes a covered rear porch with a wood-burning fireplace, a full basement, a formal dining room, a laundry room, a two-car garage, a home office area, and more.
Since the 2010-2011 academic year, the Foundation has provided $5,000 annually to the college’s peer tutoring program. As a result, the program has fulfilled more than 450 student requests over the last three years, providing more than 2,650 hours of support.
The Educational Foundation of Alfred, Inc., a private foundation representing faculty, staff, and friends of Alfred State, has welcomed a new board member, Mark Payne, of Canisteo.
The Educational Foundation of Alfred, Inc. annually provides $10,000 to fund eight to 10 Alfred State students through its work-grant program, allowing students who are ineligible for work-study funds to find employment on campus. The grant is renewable on an annual basis.

The Educational Foundation of Alfred, Inc., a private foundation representing faculty, staff, and friends of Alfred State, has welcomed a new board member, Jim Knapp, of Wellsville.
The one-story, 2,972-square-foot, French country-style house will feature three bedrooms, a dining area, a spacious kitchen, an entertainment alcove, a laundry room, a small home office, two bathrooms, a covered rear porch with a fireplace, and a full basement.
The foundation provides monetary support to enhance learning opportunities for students through scholarships, work grants, and community service projects. The Ed Foundation also funds the Building Trades programs’ hands-on home construction projects.
“The best thing about the Activities Center is that it is a place where students can come in to relax,” he said. “It is important for students to stop in simply because of all the great activities and services the center has to offer.”
The Educational Foundation of Alfred, Inc. on Feb. 20 signed a contract that leases land on campus designated for the center to the State University of New York (SUNY) for 30 years. This move was required to allow the NYSUNY 2020 Challenge Grant Program funds to be used to construct the building, according to Dr. Craig Clark, executive director and dean of the School of Applied Technology.
