Looking to prepare the construction workforce leaders of tomorrow, Alfred State is pleased to announce that it is now offering an upper-division program in construction supervision. Classes for this major will begin in the fall 2017 semester.
State University of New York Chancellor Nancy L. Zimpher honored 256 SUNY students from across the state in Albany recently with the 2017 Chancellor’s Award for Student Excellence, including two recipients from Alfred State.

As assistant professors and co-founders of a group to encourage female student interest in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM), Dr. Danielle Bond and Dr. Tabitha Sprau Coulter are igniting the imaginations of young women by showing students how rewarding and interesting engineering can be.
“Those of us in the Civil Engineering Technology Department are very proud of our seniors,” said Erin Vitale, department chair. “For many years, they have outperformed, scored well, and excelled. And this year they’ve exceeded our expectations even further when comparing their scores with peers.”
Competing against 15 other schools, Alfred State placed in two divisions in this year’s Associated Schools of Construction Region 1 Student Competition held Nov. 13-14 in Morristown, NJ.

“Our students made an impressive showing,” said Tim Piotrowski, an Alfred State associate professor of civil engineering technology, who accompanied the students on their trip. “These were real-world simulations with real-world deadlines and all the associated stress. But our students excel at those types of challenges.”
The Board of Trustees of the American Council for Construction Education (ACCE) announces the renewal of accreditation of the construction management program at Alfred State.
