“My brother graduated from high school and was looking at colleges and I was not that passionate about what I was studying in civil engineering at another school. My dad pitched the idea of us going to college together. I was elated for the idea.”
When transferring to Alfred, Samuel decided to pursue his creative side. “I like the idea of motion, and I like creating things. I have always liked making videos and drawing art so digital media was just that hub that encompassed everything.”
Samuel likes the wide range of topics and skills he is being taught. “You learn so much. It makes it easy to identify the things you like and put together your own style. That is what I really love about the digital media program.”
Outside the classroom, Samuel keeps himself busy creating content for social media channels for Bandwagon, a student content creation club, and for the college’s marketing department. You can find him at a wide variety of campus events and on various social media channels.
Through his classes and his extracurricular activities Samuel has flourished in Alfred’s tightly knit community. “At the bigger college I attended I had a small group of friends. Even though this is a smaller college I have been able to connect with everybody. You end up expanding to have a great network of friends that help you and want the best for you."
Samuel has found his passion and has really come to love Alfred State.
