Three Alfred State sport management students were able to gain valuable industry insight and engage in a number of significant networking opportunities recently during the 2018 Niagara University Sport, Recreation, and Tourism Summit.
A pair of Alfred State College (ASC) financial planning majors were among just 54 students from throughout the nation who recently attended TD Ameritrade’s 2018 National LINC Conference in Orlando, FL.
“Being able to experience and work behind-the-scenes of such a prestigious event opened up many opportunities,” Cassidy McCourt said. “As a host, our jobs began before the tournament did. It was our job to make sure everything ran smoothly and everyone adjusted well to being in Buffalo.”
As a result of the skills and knowledge she has gained in her sport management major and a connection she made on LinkedIn, Kiana Sleight was able to assist one of the most storied college basketball schools of all-time with its 2017 Countdown to Craziness night: Duke University.
When considering colleges, many students are searching not only for the right school but also for the right career path. Alfred State College (ASC) is ranked near the top of the class when students search for several degrees in architecture, design, and business.
A group of technology management students recently toured Incubator Works in Alfred, where they learned about the importance of incubators to start-up businesses and to the development and launching of new technology products.
Programs within the department that are eligible for accreditation include the Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA), financial planning (BBA), sport management (BBA), technology management (BBA), the Associate of Science (AS) in business administration sport management (AS), the Associate of Applied Science (AAS) in accounting and marketing (AAS).
Wilkins traveled to New York City, where he participated in a tour of the Financial District given by TD Ameritrade. Wilkins and his fellow winners were able to visit the Nasdaq MarketSite in Times Square and help ring the closing bell on July 18.
