Alfred State is No. 1 among all SUNY schools in the Northern Regional Colleges category. For schools with out-of-state tuition and fees below $12,000, once again Alfred State earned a No. 1 ranking in the north.
To provide a new facility that enables students to learn about motorcycle and power sports diagnosis and repair, Alfred State has construction crews in high gear to meet a fall deadline.
Pioneer Spirit at the 2016 Great Race: When the rear axle on another competitor’s Model A failed, the Alfred State team swept in to swap out the good rear axle from their Ford, allowing the other team to finish the race.
The Associate in Occupational Studies degree program will prepare students for a career as a motorcycle/power sports/ small engine technician, incorporating a progressively challenging format and hands-on laboratories, using full-size functioning vehicles.
“This is really an endurance event, so it was exhausting, but the students had a lot of fun and I think we were able to make connections that will help us move our program forward,” Johnson said. “Additionally, this event gets a lot of press, so Alfred State got a lot of national exposure along the way.”
The annual Great Race will take place from June 18-26, running from San Rafael, CA, to Moline, IL. About 120 classic cars from around the country and the world will compete for a top prize of $50,000 in the timed event.
The Alfred State Automotive Trades Department was able to get some terrific exposure recently at the 38th annual Motorama, held Feb. 20-21 at the Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex in Harrisburg, PA.
