The Alfred State Alumni Choir will return to campus on Sunday, April 23 to present the 69th Annual Spring Concert. The concert, which is the last scheduled, will begin at 2 p.m. in the Anthony C. Cappadonia Auditorium in the Orvis Activities Center.
The tradition of choir alumni coming back to campus started in 1958. This event has kept members of the choir connected to each other for years and has displayed the impact Anthony Cappadonia had on Alfred State students. This will be the first in-person choir event since 2019 due to COVID restrictions.
The event will feature performances by the Alumni Jazz Singers, the ’87 Collegiate Quartet, AAA (Anthony’s a Cappella Alliance), and the Alumni Concert Choir.
The Alumni Jazz Singers will sing selections several selections including “Come Fly With Me” and “Route 66”. The ’87 Collegiate Quartet plans on singing a trio of songs including “Everybody Loves My Baby”. AAA will perform the “Star Spangled Banner” and “I’ve Been Working on the Railroad”. The Alumni Choir will sing numerous selections including “Who Can I Turn to”, “Seize the Day”, and “Joyful, Joyful, We Adore Thee.”
The event is just part of an alumni weekend for choir members. The weekend includes rehearsals, the alumni banquet, and a post-concert dinner.
The concert is free and open to the public.
